Walsall Ladies are back in action this weekend as they face their first away trip of the new season.
The Saddlers travel to Pelsall Villa Colts on Sunday afternoon and, after a free weekend last time around are chomping at the bit for a return to action.
“The girls have been working really hard behind the scenes,” said Neil Ash, Vice Chairman.
“The team secured an emphatic win last time around against Wyrley Women’s Reserves and that result has really helped lift the morale of the squad. To win in the manner we did was great because despite a disappointing result in the opening game, the team reacted perfectly and bounced back with an excellent performance.”
“Confidence is high in the camp and we will be looking to build on that positive result to gain a bit of momentum to carry us forward. They have all worked in training this week and are all raring to go on Sunday.”
Sunday’s opponents Pelsall Villa Colts have made an unbeaten start to the season so far, drawing twice and winning 7-1 in their last encounter.
“Pelsall Villa have made a good start to the season and I expect Sunday’s game to be a difficult but also entertaining one,” said Ash.
“I am anticipating a strong and well organised opposition but I am confident that the Ladies can compete. It will be a tough challenge for them, but one I know that they are relishing.
“They will play to win on Sunday and build on their win last time out and that is no different to us. Our aim is the same for every game; to go out and win. All being well, we can do just that and get a positive result come Sunday evening.”
Sunday’s game is to be played at Pelsall Cricket & Sports Club, Walsall Road, WS3 4BS with kick off at 2pm. Admission is free.
