Walsall Ladies are back in action this weekend as they face Sutton Rangers on Sunday 13th October.
The Saddlers play Sutton Rangers for the second time in two weeks after facing each other last time around at Dales Lane. In what was an entertaining affair Sunday’s hosts came away with a 2-5 win, ending the Saddlers’ run of five consecutive wins on the bounce to extend their lead at the top of the table, leaving the gap between first and second at three points. Despite a disappointing result, Jason Barrowclough was more than happy with the way his team conducted themselves and was keen to reiterate that confidence remains high within the squad.
“Of course, to lose last time out was disappointing,” said Barrowclough.
“We were playing top of the league so it was always going to be a difficult game. Coming into it I asked the Ladies to give me 100% no matter what the result and despite the loss the team gave it everything and, on another day, might have got more out of the game.
“It’s disappointing to lose but it’s that early in the season that I don’t think it will be detrimental. I know that my team are more than capable of bringing it back and confidence remains high in the camp.”
Sunday’s hosts Sutton Rangers continued their unbeaten start to the season following the win last week and will be confident heading into the reverse fixture, but Barrowclough believes that what he was worked on with the Ladies will put them in good stead.
“There’s been a lot of areas that have been worked on this week in training,” said Barrowclough.
“The Ladies have shown a great attitude and spirit in the sessions and they are all looking forward to play again on Sunday afternoon. Although we are facing the same team again a week later, we all agree that it will be a different game to last time but know that if we set out with the right game plan we can match them and get the result we are looking for, so all being well we can get back to winning ways on Sunday.”
Sunday’s game between Sutton Rangers and Walsall Ladies kicks off at 2pm.
