Walsall Ladies are back in action this weekend as they face Sutton Rangers at Dales Lane on Sunday 6th October.
The Saddlers have continued their recent turn of results winning five consecutive games on the bounce. On the back of a hard-fought 3-2 win against Stafford Town last week, the team find themselves level on points at the top of the table with Sunday’s visitors, with goal difference separating the two. Walsall Ladies manager Jason Barrowclough was delighted to continue the winning streak and is hoping for more of the same on Sunday.
“I was delighted with the win last week against Stafford Town,” said Barrowclough.
“We were put under some difficult moments of pressure at times but the Ladies showed great character and we grinded out the result in the end which is something we were really pleased about. To win again and turn four consecutive wins into five was massive for us and hopefully we can follow the result up from last week this weekend.”
Sunday’s opponents Sutton Rangers pose a real threat for the Saddlers with the visitors undefeated so far this season and Barrowclough is tipping Sunday’s game to be the toughest one yet.
“Sutton Rangers have made a great start to the campaign and this will no doubt be the toughest game of the season so far,” said Barrowclough.
“It will be a tough one due to them not losing a game and also with them doing the double last season. They also have multiple goal scorers in their side and are a well organised and disciplined group of players.
“I am confident in my players however that we can match them and get the points on Sunday. It’s a massive game and we appreciate the support we have had so far. For a neutral, this could be a great game to come and watch but I am hoping that we can continue our run and get to the top of the table come Sunday evening.”
Sunday’s game between Walsall Ladies and Sutton Rangers at Dales Lane kicks off at 2pm.
