Walsall Ladies Manager Jason Barrowclough is confident that his side can go out and gain a positive result this weekend to help kickstart their season.
The Saddlers opened their campaign with a 1-5 loss to Leek Town Ladies at Dales Lane last week and whilst the result wasn’t the ideal start to the new season, Barrowclough is confident they can make amends this Sunday.
“Of course, it was disappointing to start the new season with a defeat, “he said.
“But we can’t change that now and our focus is solely on Sunday and making sure we get some points on the board against Wyrley Women’s Reserves.
“The girls have worked hard in training looking at things that we could have done better from the last game. We are very pleased to have welcomed back a number of first team players this week so they will be ready for action after injuries which kept them out last time around.
“I am pleased with how the Ladies and the Development squad are progressing together and we will continue to work on that.”
Sunday’s opponents also suffered a 1-5 loss at home on the opening day of the season against Stafford Town and Barrowclough knows they will be coming to Dales Lane with the same aim of wanting to kickstart their season with a positive result.
“Our opponents suffered an opening day defeat like ourselves so they will want to rectify that and get a result on Sunday. We have played Wyrley in previous seasons and have learnt a lot about them over the years, however we are aware they have had many changes recently so we shouldn’t judge them based on our previous matches against them.
“It’s just another game for us and we will be looking to get the result we are all searching for. I am very much looking forward to the game and I hope that come Sunday evening we have some points on the board.”
Sunday’s game is at Dales Lane, kick off 2pm.
